Enjoying their own individual gardens, they sit near the owners’ lovely Edwardian home in 20 rural acres on a working farm, home to grazing horses and nesting owls as well as a small lake. A short, 3 mile drive reaches the Blue Flag Pier beach at Southwold, and from the harbour of this lovely seaside town, famous for its colourful beach huts, lighthouse and Adnams beer, there is an easy walk over the footbridge to the pretty Walberswick village (a rowing ferry plies back and forth in the summer months). Africa Alive at Kessingland, boat hire for the Southern Broads at the market town of Beccles, RSPB Minsmere, Dunwich Heath (NT) and superb fish and chips by the beach at the little village of Dunwich are all under 8 miles away, whilst the medieval city of Norwich, with its castle, cathedral, cinemas, restaurants and excellent shopping, is 26 miles. Shop and pubs 1 mile.

This beautiful county is situated to the south of Norfolk, with Cambridgeshire to the west, Essex to the south, and the North Sea to the east. It has much to offer the visitor, including the wetlands of the Broads, the Wool Towns, and a coastal strip to the east known as “The Sandlings”. There are over 5000km of marked paths as well as national cycle routes, along with country parks, nature reserves such as the Trimley Marshes, and picnic sites.
Suffolk’s notable towns include Ipswich (the county town), Felixstowe, Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket.
West Suffolk is famed for its archaeological discoveries, especially that at Sutton Hoo in 1939. A grassy mound was found to be a ship burial ground containing a collection of Anglo-Saxon treasures, including a Sword of State, a shield, a helmet, gold and silver bowls, jewellery and a lyre. The site is now owned by the National Trust.
